Pocono Township Re-Addressing Project. For those of you not familiar with the Re-Addressing Project, Monroe County is upgrading its 911 services to the fully enhanced E911 system. It provides more efficient features, such as automatic number identification, automatic location identification and/or selective routing. In other words, with a fully enhanced 911 system, the caller's telephone number and address will be automatically displayed on a computer screen at the 911 center. When the 911 center receives an emergency call, this info will be dispplayed and the emergency personnel will know the exact location of the emergency. This is designed to improve the emergency response time which may save a life! Pocono Township is now finished with verification of info and will be entering into the next phase. Steve Rinker of the Monroe County Planning Commission, is hopeful that all of the re-addressing info for Monroe County and Lehman Twp. of Pike County will be completed by the end of the year. Once someone is notified of his/her new address, that person will have one year to phase into the new address. The Post Offices will accept old addresses for one year. All of the RR numbers and HC Routes will disappear! If one is using a PO Box, you may continue to use that box for a mailing address, but you will also have a physical address for your residence.
